"Too Many People" Reflection
Write one paragraph summarizing some of the things you learned about population in class today (or from the videos on the assignments page). Find out what number person you are (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-15391515). Write a second paragraph about the population. What are your thoughts on it? Do you think we have too many people? "Tragedy of the Commons" Reflections
Today we played a fishing game which simulated the Tragedy of the Commons. Your blog post should be one paragraph of summary and one paragraph on reflection. Not necessarily the reflections we did as part of the lab, but an overall reflection. Some thoughts to reflect on:
- Your fish harvest was worth money. Why would it be better to have money than fish (i.e. what can you do with money that you can't do with fish?)?
- Think of a local commons that you are familiar with. [parking lots, bathrooms, Cafeteria,, etc.] Do similar situations arise? Explain. HOW might those problems be solved?
- What are some natural resources that are common resources?
- What are the global commons? Are these being used wisely? Why or why not?
- What can people do to use these resources most wisely?
